Revision timeline
| Oct 13 | Launch at 7:00 PM Pacific. The Overworld and Nether open. Everyone starts at spawn in Lykopolis. |
| Soon after | Traders open in Lykopolis, including the Portal Keeper who sells Portal Shards. We'll announce it in Discord. |
| All 4 gates found | Personal Nether portals unlock. Once the last wild gate is discovered, players can order their own portals. |
| Oct 13 to 27 | The End stays closed so the whole server can take on the Ender Dragon together. The live map only shows Lykopolis during these two weeks. |
| Week 2 | Dragon fight event. Date and time announced in Discord. The End opens to everyone afterward. |
| Nov 13 | AFK bots and chunk loaders allowed. Not before. |
The world
| Overworld | 15,000 × 15,000. Border runs from -7,500 to 7,500 on both axes. Terralith terrain. We'll expand it if we need more room. |
| Nether | Vanilla. Standard generation. Getting there works differently this revision, see Nether portals below. |
| The End | Closed 2 weeks. Opens after the dragon event. Vanilla dragon fight, vanilla End cities, elytra the normal way. |
Two hidden spawners
Somewhere out in the world we've hidden a sign for a creeper spawner and a sign for a witch spawner. The first player to find one and click the sign opens a modreq automatically. Staff will then place the spawner for you anywhere within 150 blocks of the sign, so you can build your farm where it suits you. Keep the grinder rules below in mind, and remember that mobs from spawners don't drop Wolfbucks.
The live map
The web map is up from day one, but for the first two weeks it only shows Lykopolis. The rest of the world is yours to discover first.
Ancient ruins
Six ruins are hidden across the map, none of them marked. Four were built for this revision, and each is a test:
- The Tomb of the Sun King
- The Temple of the Eternal Flames
- The Court of the Path of Stars
- The Sky Steps of the Mountain King, a parkour climb against the clock
Two more come from our Summer Event 2026 builders: The Copper Collosus by natecas08 and Chunkmover by Platapus_Gaming1. Read the journals, piece together the story, and see what the builders left behind.
Every ruin ends in a prize sign. Earn your way to it and you get a custom head and a lore book, once per player, so everyone can collect every one. The ruins reset themselves for the next visitor. They're protected too: you can walk through them, pull the levers, open the chests and read the signs, but nobody can break or build on them.
Nether portals
Portals are limited this revision. You can't light your own portal frame. The Nether is reached three ways:
The spawn portal
At the Temple of Hades in Lykopolis. Open from launch.
The four wild gates
Four gates are hidden out in the wild: the Gate of Boreas to the north, Eurus to the east, Notus to the south and Zephyrus to the west. Each is a small marker with a sign, tucked somewhere you could easily walk past. None of them are underground.
The first player to find a gate and click its sign gets announced to the whole server, and a modreq opens automatically. Staff will then build that gate's Nether portal anywhere within 150 blocks of the sign, wherever the finder wants it. Anyone who finds the sign later will see who got there first.
Your own portal
Unlocks when all four gates are found. Personal portals can't be placed until Boreas, Eurus, Notus and Zephyrus have all been discovered. Start saving now, and go looking.
Buy a portal of your own with Portal Shards, glowing amethyst shards sold by the Portal Keeper in Lykopolis for 32 Wolfbucks each.
| Smallest portal | 6 shards. One shard for each block of the portal's opening. The minimum is 2 wide by 3 tall, so 6 shards (192 Wolfbucks). Bigger portals take more. |
| Plus | 4 diamond blocks. Paid once per portal, on top of the shards. |
| To order | /modreq. Build the obsidian frame yourself, stand by it with the shards and diamond blocks, and put in a request. |
Wolfbucks
Wolfbucks are the server's currency. They're a real item, a glowing paper, that drops into the world while you play. No commands, no bank, no balance to check. If it's in your inventory, it's yours. If it's in a chest, it's wherever you left it.
Spending them
Find a trader villager in Lykopolis. Right-click and trade Wolfbucks for gear, goodies and Portal Shards, same as any villager. Wolfbucks can also be traded between players however you like. The traders open shortly after launch, so start saving.
How you earn them
Every one of these actions has a small chance to drop a Wolfbuck. You'll see +1 Wolfbuck pop up and hear a ding when it lands.
- Mining and digging: Ore, stone, dirt, gravel, sand, anything you dig out of the ground
- Farming: Grown crops, sugar cane, cactus, bamboo, kelp, pumpkins, melons
- Chopping trees: Logs and giant mushrooms
- Foraging: Grass, flowers, leaves, vines, mushrooms. Rare, but it happens
- Fishing: Every catch has a shot
- Hunting: Killing hostile mobs
What doesn't pay: placing blocks, planting seeds, breaking something you placed yourself, creative mode, mobs from spawners, and anything player-made like cobblestone or bricks. It has to be something the world generated.
Lykopolis, the city at spawn
Revision 4 starts in Lykopolis, an Ancient Greek city built by Doug into the hills of the Moonlight Valley around 0, 0. It's a full walled town, about 300 blocks across, and it's protected and monster-free so new players have a safe place to land. You can open doors, use the farms and sit in the theater, but you can't break or place blocks inside the walls.
- The Agora, the central plaza where you spawn, with the market stoa and its traders.
- The Acropolis and the Temple of Lykos, up the grand stair on the east side of town.
- The Temple of Hades, home of the spawn Nether portal.
- Public farms and animal pens in the Elysian Fields, open for everyone to use.
- A theater, gymnasium and stadion, a quarry and mine, a necropolis, a fishing pond, and a city wall you can walk all the way around.
The city keeps secrets. There are hidden things around spawn waiting to be found. Read the signs, look closely, explore, and if you meet the Pythia, listen to what she has to say.
Getting help: modreqs
Need staff? Put in a modreq. It's a help ticket that saves your exact location, so staff can come to you even if nobody is online when you send it.
/modreq <message> | Opens a request at the spot you're standing. Say what you need: "Griefed house, please roll back", "Ready for my portal", "Stuck in a hole". |
/check | Shows your open requests and whether staff have picked them up. |
You can have up to five open at a time. Use a modreq for griefing and theft, portal orders, stuck players, bugs, and anything you'd want an admin for. Staff wear a [Mod] or [Admin] tag.
Commands and travel
This revision is closer to vanilla. There's no /tp, /tpa, /home, /sethome, /spawn or kits. Set a bed, walk, ride, sail, and use the Nether. If you die without a bed, you respawn in Lykopolis.
/msg, /r | Private message a player and reply |
/ignore | Hide a player's chat |
/helpop | Quick message to online staff |
/afk | Mark yourself away |
/list, /seen | Who's online, and when someone was last on |
Proximity voice chat is supported for Java players who install the Simple Voice Chat mod.
Protecting your stuff
There are no land claims this revision. Instead, CoreProtect logs every block placed or broken and every item taken from a chest, by every player. If someone griefs your build or takes your things, staff can see exactly who did it and roll it back.
- Report griefing or theft with a
/modreqfrom the spot. Don't fix it yourself first, it makes the rollback harder. - Ask before building right next to someone else.
- Anything outside spawn that isn't yours is off limits unless the owner says otherwise. Spawn, the ancient ruins and the wild gates are protected and can't be broken.
Rules
This is a PvE server. Be decent to each other, help new players, and keep the world something people want to come back to. Staff have the final say on anything not covered here.
| Griefing and theft | Not allowed, ever. Everything is logged, everything gets rolled back, and the player responsible gets banned. |
| X-ray and cheats | Zero tolerance. X-ray mods, X-ray resource packs, hacked clients and seed-cracking tools all count. Minimum one-week ban on the first offense. |
| Bots and AFK | No AFK bots or chunk loaders until November 13. After that they're allowed, but staff will step in if they cause lag. |
| Grinders | Private vanilla mob and iron farms are fine. Guardian and blaze farms must be open to the public. Staff may cut back oversized farms if they hurt server performance. |
| Redstone | Every clock needs an off switch. Turn farms off when you aren't using them. Builds that lag the server may be disabled. |
| Chat | Keep it friendly. The server is open to students and community members of all ages, so keep it clean. |
Events
The first big one is the Ender Dragon fight at the end of week two. After that we want regular community events, and we're still working out the schedule and where in the world they'll happen. If you'd like to help plan or host an event, tell us in Discord.
Questions and event plans go through the Nevada Esports Discord. In game, use /modreq. See you in Lykopolis.
